Hemp is one of the fastest growing cash crops and within 4 month afters it;s planted hemp grows 10 to 20 feet tall and it is ready for harvesting. Hemp is the ultimate cash crop, producing more fiber, food and oil than any other plant on the planet!

Hemp needs to be planted in well-aerated loam soil and seeded at a rate of between 20-80 LBS per acre depending on your goals. Here is an article published by Perdue University that discusses hemp farming practies. Click here

One acre of hemp can yield an average of 700 pounds of grain, which in turn can be pressed into about 22 gallons of oil and 530 pounds of meal. That same acre will also produce an average of 5,350 pounds of straw, which can be processed into approximately 1,300 pounds of fiber.

Industrial hemp is an excellent rotation crop because it suppresses weeds and decreases outbreaks of insect and disease. Hemp can also rebuild and condition soils by replacing organic matter and provides aeration through its extensive root system. When it comes time to harvest there are several methods depending on your goals. To process hemp just for seed here's a method that is easly adapted Click here. To recover the the hemp seed and stalk a Double Cutting Combine Harvester with forage header to harvest the seeds and stalk in one pass Click here. Lastly to process the entire plant and get seed, hemp leaf, hemp flower and hemp fiber requires a Double Cutting Forage Harvester with Stripper Header Click here

Hemp was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber over 10,000 years ago.
